KUCHING (Feb 18): Sarawak and Sabah are set to experience thunderstorms and prolonged heavy rain from February 19 to 23, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has warned.

In a statement, the department said the wet weather is expected as a result of a surge in monsoon winds entering the region.

“This condition may also bring strong winds and rough seas over the South China Sea. An advisory on strong winds and rough seas has been issued effective from Feb 18 until Feb 21,” it added.

MetMalaysia urged the public to stay vigilant and monitor the latest weather updates through its official website, social media channels, and the myCuaca mobile application to ensure safety during the monsoon period.
