Miri cops nab man for suspected meth possession

MIRI (Sept 6): Miri police have arrested a 26-year-old local man in possession of suspected drugs in Kampung Lusut on Tuesday.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement said during the arrest at a hut in the village, police found 7.6gm of suspected methamphetamine with a street value of RM850.

“The suspect has been remanded to assist in the investigation. This case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

If convicted, the man will face prison term of at least two years but not exceeding five years and whipping of between three and nine strokes of the rotan.

Alexson also urged the public to inform the police if they know of any drug dealing related activities.
