Miri police on the hunt for snatch thief

MIRI (July 7): The police here are looking for a motorcyclist who snatched a handbag from a woman in front of a supermarket in Pelita here at 4pm Saturday.

Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement said initial police investigations found the suspect rode a white or silver-coloured motorcycle.

“The police is still meeting eyewitnesses in the incident and gathering information and evidence to facilitate our investigation,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery.

Alexson said in the incident, the suspect snatched the victim’s handbag containing personal items.

“The police advises the public from making any speculations on the case or making any unverified issues viral,” he said.

Members of the public with any information related to the case are advised to go to the nearest police station or call the Miri police station at 085-433730.
