Miri Sukma medical team ready for emergencies

MIRI (Aug 17): A team of medical practitioners and health workers are geared up to help Malaysia Games (Sukma) athletes competing in sports events here.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni said that in the event of a health emergency, athletes who need treatment will be given priority.

“If the athletes need treatment after their event, the medical staff is ready to help,” he said when met by reporters at the Sukma Media Centre at Miri Indoor Stadium here today.

Lukanisman, who is also Sibuti MP, added that the Health Ministry (MoH) static clinic is based at the Sukma Sports Village located at the National Youth Training Institute here.

“The Miri Divisional Health Office is able to treat more than 1,000 athletes here for the Games,” he said.

He was welcomed to the media centre by its director, Rosmaini Mail.

The media centre started operating from Aug 13, and runs until Aug 24 from 8am to 10pm daily.
