STATOS targets a 30 percent increase in Singaporean tourist arrivals to Sarawak

JOHOR BAHRU, 6 Oct: The Sarawak Office of Trade and Tourism Singapore (STATOS) aims for a 30 percent growth in tourist arrivals from Singapore to Sarawak through strengthening industrial cooperation and promotion of the destinations concerned in the republic's market.

STATOS Chief Executive Officer Putrie Rozana Soraya Roslan said the effort was carried out jointly with Tourism Malaysia Sarawak and Tourism Malaysia office in Singapore, as well as involving players from the tourism industry of Sarawak.

He said the collaboration also involved Sarawak Tourism Board, Business Events Sarawak, Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies and Air Borneo to introduce the diversity of Sarawak tourism products to Singapore market.

He told reporters after the Let's Go to Borneo Conference here today.

The princess said Sarawak tooTargetingto be a leading destination in the eco-tourism and business events sector by 2030, with Singapore's market among key segments of focus.

According to him, currently available flight connections including Air Borneo's daily service from Singapore to Sarawak are also a catalyst for efforts to increase tourist arrivals from the republic.

In the meantime, he said STATOS is also focusing on cross-sectoral cooperation to expand the potential of tourism industry, including in research, academic and learning visitation programmes.

He said the efforts were important to strengthen ties between tourism sector with educational institutions and other industries in Sarawak and Singapore. -TVS.
