MIRI (July 10): Miri will be the host of the 6th Sarawak Buddhist Cultural Performance, taking place on July 21 at SMK Chung Hua Miri’s Dato Lee Teck Fook hall.
The event, initiated by the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia Sarawak and organised by Miri Buddhist Society, aims to educate the public through beautiful performances explaining Buddhism and to help all living beings finding their own directions and regains the courage to face life’s challenges.
“This performance will comprise six Buddhist groups from all over Sarawak, namely Miri Buddhist Society, Batu Niah Buddhist Society, Bintangor Buddhist Society, Bintulu Buddhist Association, Kuching Tze Yin Buddhist Orthodox Association and Kuching Buddhist Society,” said a statement by Miri Buddhist Society.
On another matter, the event’s organising committee members from Miri Buddhist Society recently made courtesy calls on state Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin; Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Deputy Minister Datuk Sebastian Ting; Pujut assemblyman and Miri mayor Adam Yii; as well as Miri MP Chiew Choon Man in hopes of getting support from the elected representatives.
“We have also made courtesy calls on Batu Niah Buddhist Society, Bintangor Society and Bintulu Buddhist Association, and we are hoping for their participation in this event to add more colours to it,” the statement added.
