Miring ceremony held for Pesta Tatau 2024 regatta, power boat races

TATAU (Sept 5): The Miring Nasih Ai ceremony was held yesterday at the Sarawak Rivers Board wharf here in connection with Pesta Tatau 2024.

Minister in the Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai attended the ceremony, which was conducted to pray for the smooth running and safety of the festival’s water sports competitions, namely the regatta and power boat races.

Also present at the ceremony were Tatau District officer Jabang Juntan, Tatau-Sebauh Education officer Fred Entau, Tatau District Information officer Donny Minggu Ling, SMK Tatau principal Dr Layang Ugek, Tatau fire station chief Jankey Jikat, and Pemanca Gerosen Jubin.

To date, the regatta on Sept 7-8 has received 97 entries from 18 teams, while the power boat race on Sept 14-15 has 172 entries from 78 teams.

The “Raja Sungai” (King of the River) will receive RM10,000.
