Missing 73yo man found dead on fifth day of SAR in Miri

KUCHING, Apr 28: A 73-year-old man in Miri who had been missing was found dead on the fifth day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation today.

In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the victim, Sagai Kunchau, was found at 12.30pm by the SAR team in a forest within a 1km radius from the control post.

After transporting the body out, it was later handed over to the police for further action.

Based on the report, the victim was said to have gone to his plantation last Thursday (Apr 23) but failed to return home, raising concern among family members.

Firefighters received a call about the missing victim at 9.30pm and deployed a team from the Lopeng station, and the SAR operation was launched the next day. — DayakDaily
