KUCHING (Jan 16): A mobile service session on the Sarawak Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) will be held at Siang Siang Corner in Tabuan Jaya here tomorrow (Jan 17).
The session, initiated by the service team of Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How, will be from 9am to noon.
Free FTES informational materials will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while stocks last.
The session is organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Youth Movement (YMM) Batu Lintang branch.
According to a See Hua Daily News report, the initiative aims to provide parents and high school graduates with clearer insights into the FTES and the opportunities it offers.
Currently, the FTES covers 64 undergraduate programmes offered by four Sarawak state-owned tertiary education institutions: Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, Curtin University Sarawak, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) and i-CATS University College.
In addition, assistance will be provided for senior citizens aged 60 and above to apply for the Sarawak Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB).
Other services include the signing and stamping of household monthly income certificates for Sarawakian undergraduates applying for the RM1,200 special assistance, as well as the verification of eligibility for the federal Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara).
For further information, the public may contact See’s service team on 013-4881163 or 018-9605251, or Patrick Tan (013-8169452) or David Chiam (016-8631638).
