More facilities for Ikmas on the cards

KUCHING: The second phase of infrastructure construction for the Malaysian Islamic Skills Institute Sarawak (Ikmas) here is expected to be completed this year.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar,said the project includes the construction of a mosque, academic blocks, dormitories and a library.

It is aimed at providing a more conducive and high-quality educational environment for students.

“It is anticipated to be fully completed this year, with a capacity to accommodate 700 to 1,000 students at any one time,” he said at the 20th Ikmas Convocation Ceremony here on today (Aug 12).

“This initiative aligns with the effort to strengthen the Ikmas campus as a centre of knowledge and virtue.”

The event was also attended by Sarawak Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, and the Deputy Minister of Economy, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib.

According to Dr. Mohd Na’im Ikmas is also collaborating with the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) to produce competitive graduates in technical and digital technology fields.

He said this initiative aligns with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani to develop knowledgeable, capable, and skilled preachers.

The 20th Ikmas Convocation Ceremony saw 53 graduates getting their Diploma in Islamic Da’wah Studies and 14 recipients of the Ikmas Islamic Studies Certificate.

The Prime Minister’s Department Minister’s Award went to Nur Zulaikhah Ripot, the Jakim Director-General’s Award was received by Muhamad Alfan Raduan, the Sarawak Islamic Council Award went to Sharifah Nur Maizurah Sayed Ahmad, and the Ikmas Award was presented to Faridah Rasid.
