Firefighters extricating the victim’s body which had become trapped under the car.
SIBU (Jan 31): A 28-year-old motorcyclist died after he was struck by two vehicles in an accident that took place at the Kemuyang traffic lights junction here on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at around 10.15pm.
The victim was confirmed dead at the scene after sustaining severe injuries in the collision involving two cars.
Authorities believe the motorcyclist, who was travelling from Sibu Jaya towards Sibu town, lost control before veering into the opposite lane and colliding with one vehicle, then being struck by another.
Sibu Zone 4 Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief, Andy Alie, said his team received the emergency call at 10.19pm, dispatching personnel from Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station.
“Upon arrival, the team found the motorcyclist trapped under a black Perodua Alza, having been dragged several metres due to the impact,” he said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Andy added that rescuers extricated the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel.
“Firefighters also carried out flushing operations to clear debris and spilled fluids from the road, ensuring it was safe for other road users,” he said.
The seven-member fire team, equipped with one Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle, worked alongside police and Sibu Hospital personnel, completing the operation at 12.10am.
Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili confirmed the incident when contacted, adding that investigations are ongoing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
