KUCHING (March 14): The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has taken enforcement action against several traders for constructing permanent structures along a pedestrian walkway at Jalan Desa Ilmu without approval.
MPKS said its enforcement division carried out an inspection at the site on Thursday following public complaints regarding the structures erected at the location.
The inspection found that several structures built by traders operating in the area had been constructed without permission from the local authority.
“Enforcement officers subsequently cordoned off the said area with perimeter tape and issued notices instructing the parties involved to dismantle the structures and clear the site of any construction materials or debris within the stipulated period,” said the council.
MPKS stressed that enforcement operations would continue to be carried out periodically to ensure public walkways remain safe, accessible and free from misuse.
