KUCHING, July 10: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to officialise its participation in the UNICEF’s Child-Friendly Cities Initiative.

MPKS chairman Dato Peter Minos said the council will begin meeting and engaging with the children in Samarahan to guide them on vital values such as integrity and honesty.

“We will work with Unimas (University of Malaysia Sarawak) and UITM (Universiti Teknologi MARA Sarawak branch) by gathering the children in schools to interact with them,” he said in a statement today.

He said good values take priority over expertise and skills among the younger generation today, who will grow to become leaders of the nation.

“This is an opportunity to guide and bring up the young not only to be productive, creative and innovative but also to uphold values like integrity and honesty,” said Minos. — DayakDaily
