KUCHING (Jan 16): A 30-year-old e-commerce entrepreneur from Johor hit the Star Toto 6/50 Jackpot 1 worth a staggering RM12.73 million on Jan 11 – all thanks to numbers picked by his young daughter during a family board game.
The lucky winner, who started playing Toto just three years ago, placed a standard RM1 bet on the numbers 1, 2, 4, 41, 46, and 48 – the same ones his daughter had chosen while playing a board game at home.
He only realised he had won a few days later when scanning his ticket using the Sports Toto mobile app, the company said in a statement.
“The unexpected notification left my wife and I in disbelief and we could barely sleep that night trying to convince ourselves that we are the jackpot winner.
“I always play different types of board games with my daughter and when she started to pick the numbers from one game, I thought that I should try to bet on these numbers. She’s really my lucky star,” he said.
