KUCHING: The Malaysia Digital Content Festival (MYDCF) Biz Day 2024 highlighted Malaysia’s ambition to become a leading regional digital creative hub by 2030.
Featuring insightful workshops, business meetings, and international collaborations, its statement said that the event has positioned Malaysia as a regional digital creative hub.
Officiated by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh, it noted that the three-day (Sept 13 to 15) event had attracted over 1,000 participants from countries including Malaysia, South Korea, India, China, Japan, Iran, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines, and featured more than 100 speakers from North America, Europe, Australia, and the region.
It added that the significant highlight of MYDCF Biz Day 2024 was the SEA Awards 2024 which encompassed three key categories namely SEA Game Awards; SEA Kre8tif! Awards; and 26th DigiCon6 Asia Malaysia Circuit – recognising the best digital content creators across Southeast Asia.
“The SEA Awards celebrated excellence in animation, digital content, and gaming, demonstrating the immense potential of the region’s digital creative industries.
“This year’s awards saw over 300 submissions from more than 10 countries, showcasing the talent and diversity of the Southeast Asian digital creative ecosystem.
“The awards provided a platform for creators to gain international recognition, solidifying Malaysia’s leadership in the sector,” it said.
It pointed out that the SEA Awards 2024 this time around honoured a total of 31 winners across the three categories, celebrating the best of Southeast Asia’s digital artistry.
With the success of the event, it stated that MDEC and its strategic partners are excited to continue driving the digital creative industry forward, fostering new opportunities for talent across Southeast Asia.
“With the support from industry leaders and the Ministry of Digital, Malaysia is poised to remain at the forefront of digital content creation and innovation in the region,” it said.
