KUCHING, Oct 8: The MyJalan initiative has won the Works Minister’s Award in recognition of its role in strengthening public service delivery, particularly in making it easier for the public to report road damage.
Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the recognition was meaningful as MyJalan facilitates public complaints on road damage while enabling follow-up action to be carried out more quickly and effectively.
He said the award reflected the ministry’s continued commitment to using innovation to improve services and deliver practical solutions for the people.
“Innovation is not merely an idea, but a solution for the people,” Nanta said in a Facebook post following the 2026 Ministry of Works (KKR) Innovation Day celebration, which he officiated this morning.
He said KKR and its agencies must continue exploring technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), Industrialised Building System (IBS), Big Data and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency, optimise costs and deliver better-quality and safer infrastructure.
Nanta also called for greater opportunities to be given to young talent to put forward fresh ideas and creative solutions.
He congratulated all recipients of this year’s innovation awards and hoped the recognition would encourage them to continue creating innovations that bring tangible benefits to the people.
MyJalan KKR is the official application of KKR and serves as a one-stop centre for road-related complaints, allowing the public to report road damage and other public infrastructure issues directly via smartphone.
The application allows complaints to be submitted in real time with photographs and GPS locations, helping expedite the channelling of information to relevant agencies for monitoring, maintenance and repair.
Users can also check the status of their complaints, while the application provides information on road-related hazards such as road collapses and subsidence, as well as live traffic views through highway closed-circuit television cameras nationwide. — DayakDaily
