KUCHING, Mar 23: Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has hinted that when the time comes for him to no longer contest as the candidate for the Kapit parliamentary seat, Datuk Alvin Runggah Jimbun shall be his successor.
In a Facebook post, the Minister of Works said that Alvin, who is also his political secretary, is not a new name to the scene as he has long served and undertaken various responsibilities, including as a Special Duties Officer, and is widely known, including at the State administrative level.
“Strong teamwork is essential. This was evident when representatives from Kapit who contested in the supreme council of the Pesaka wing of PBB obtained among the highest number of votes, reflecting the strength and unity among members.
“The Pesaka culture, which emphasises unity, consultation, and mutual respect, is an advantage that must continue to be preserved. These values also guide the continuation of the leadership legacy, including in remembering the contributions of past leaders such as Tapah Ata.
“Looking ahead, hopes are placed on Datuk Alvin Runggah Jimbun to continue a leadership legacy capable of uniting all parties and driving Kapit’s development to a higher level. Strong support from the entire Kapit community is essential to ensure this continuity succeeds,” he said.
At the same time, Nanta said that the struggle to safeguard Sarawak’s rights through PETROS must continue to be supported, as it is set to become an important source of revenue for the State’s progress.
“Policies introduced by the current State leadership clearly bring significant benefits to the people, including greater access to higher education opportunities. This is an opportunity that should be fully utilised by the younger generation,” he said. — DayakDaily
