New BPHB chief pledges continuity, stronger growth

BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) president and group chief executive officer Anuar Ismail has pledged to build on the strong foundation laid by his predecessor Datuk Ruslan Abdul Ghani as he takes on the leadership of the port operator.

Anuar said the transition of responsibility from Ruslan to him comes with a significant responsibility to ensure the foundation established under the former’s leadership continued to be strengthened and expanded.

He said Ruslan’s experience and achievements during his tenure at BPHB provided an important foundation for ensuring continuity under the new leadership.

“I am fully aware of the responsibility that comes with this role.

“In many respects, the handover of responsibility from Ruslan to me represents a continuation of that responsibility,” he said this in his speech during the BPHB appreciation dinner held at a local hotel on Monday (Sept 21)

Anuar said Ruslan had laid a strong foundation for BPHB and expressed his appreciation for the contributions made by his predecessor throughout his tenure.

“My responsibility, together with my team, is to build on and further develop the legacy and traditions established by Ruslan,” he said.

He added that BPHB’s management would continue to strengthen the organisation, improve services for customers and work closely with the state government, business partners and the community.

According to Anuar, these efforts are important to ensure Bintulu Port continues to grow, remains competitive and plays a greater role in Sarawak’s development.

Meanwhile, Ruslan, who has since joined Sarawak Energy, said his move from Bintulu Port did not mark the end of his relationship with the organisation.

Instead, he said the move opened up new opportunities for collaboration between Bintulu Port and Sarawak Energy.

“My move from Bintulu Port to Sarawak Energy is not the end of our relationship.

“Instead, it marks the beginning of opportunities for our teams to work together through various initiatives,” he said.
