BINTULU (Jan 31): A jetty will be constructed at Rumah Empenit to improve accessibility and mobility for the longhouse residents and the nearby communities.
According to Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee, the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2026 project reflects the government’s ongoing commitment towards enhancing basic infrastructure and improving the quality of life of those in the rural areas.
The assemblyman recently conducted site visits to assess several RTP projects within his constituency, where he was accompanied by officers from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak.
“Among the proposals discussed was the construction of a jetty for the longhouse residents, which is crucial in facilitating daily movement as well as supporting local economic activities,” he said.
Iskandar added that safety remained a top priority, particularly for children and senior citizens, as the jetty would provide safer and more convenient access for river transportation.
“God-willing, more RTP projects like this will continue to be pursued to further enhance rural development and ensure the well-being of the people,” he said.
Iskandar also expressed his appreciation to all agencies involved, both directly and indirectly, in the planning and future implementation of the jetty project.
