MIRI (Oct 27): Kampung Tudan Desaras here will soon have a new multipurpose hall, a project that is to be delivered under the Piasau constituency’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
Its assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting said the project has been approved under 2024 RTP and a total of RM250,000 has been set aside for the first phase of the construction project.
“The construction of the hall will be carried out in phases. The first phase will involve clearing the site, land filling, and laying the concrete foundation.
“After that, a request for funding for the second phase will be submitted to add amenities such as a stage and parking area,” he explained.
According to him, the residents did not have a proper place for organising communal activities and he was informed that such activities had to be held at the community leader’s residence premises.
“They have also expressed hope to have a multipurpose hall that will serve as a venue for community activities,” said Ting.
He said this in a statement after his recent visit to Kampung Tudan Desaras, a new resettlement for families from squatter areas such as Kampung Merikan, Kampung Api-Api and Kampung Pasir Lutong.
Ting, who is also the deputy minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts I, was joined by his special aide Chia Kah Furng, community’s chairperson Noraziah Yusof, and Miri City Council (MCC) engineering officer during the visit.
