KUCHING (Feb 19): The search for a 20-year-old man reported missing since Wednesday after being swept away in a river near Rumah Siti Tisak in Ulu Skrang, Betong yielded no results today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the search, which entered its second day, began at 7.30am focusing on downstream and upstream areas of the Skrang River, with a search radius of up to five kilometres.
“Bomba deployed boats and divided teams to enhance the effectiveness of the operation,” it said in a statement.
The department added that its Water Rescue Team and K9 Unit also took part in the search for Denickles Lesen, together with police and Civil Defence Force personnel.
The operation was postponed later in the evening due to safety concerns, and is scheduled to resume tomorrow.
It is understood that at the time of the incident, the victim was testing a speedboat when it capsized around 3.50pm on Wednesday.
The victim was reportedly seen struggling in the water before disappearing from sight.
