One dead, another injured in lorry accident at Jln Sibu–Bintulu

KUCHING, Feb 13: A 41-year-old man died while another was injured after an ice cream lorry was involved in an accident at Batu 40, Sungai Kua, along Jalan Sibu–Bintulu today.

In a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 5.30pm, and firefighters from the Selangau station were deployed.

Upon arrival, it was noted that the accident involved the lorry, which had skidded to the middle of the road. One victim was extricated by rescuers and transported to the hospital for further treatment.

The second victim, Ng Wan Shoon, was trapped inside the vehicle and was unconscious. Firefighters carried out extrication works using special rescue tools, and the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health personnel who arrived shortly after.

The victim was then handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
