KUCHING (Jan 22): Police in Sri Aman issued a total of 82 summonses for speeding during an operation along the Pan Borneo Highway and accident-prone locations.

Sri Aman police chief Supt Dennis Bunyam said Wednesday’s Op Pandu Laju operation was carried out to detect, prevent, and take firm action against motorists exceeding the prescribed speed limits.

“Op Pandu Laju will be carried out continuously as part of efforts to raise awareness and educate road users to be more disciplined and cautious while driving, as well as to detect other traffic offences such as P-Turn violations and others,” he said in a statement.

The operation was conducted by personnel from the district Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division.

Dennis stressed that firm action will continue to be taken without compromise against those who violate traffic regulations, especially by speeding.

“Such offences can endanger the safety of both the driver and other road users,” he said.

He reminded motorists to always comply with the prescribed speed limits, plan their journeys properly, and prioritise safety when on the road.
