BINTULU: The opening of a four-lane dual carriageway on the Sibu-Bintulu Road, involving sections Km84 to Km59, originally scheduled for last Tuesday, has been postponed to today (February 2).

The Pan Borneo Highway Branch of the Public Works Department (PWD) Sarawak, on its Facebook page, advises road users to exercise caution in construction areas and always adhere to safety signs such as lane closures and speed limits.

Drivers are also reminded of the correct procedure for executing P-turns to prevent accidents.

“Stay vigilant of surrounding vehicles to ensure your safety and that of other users,” it said.

Road users coming from the Sibu direction heading to SMK Tatau, Tatau Health Clinic, government offices, and Tatau bazaar can use the P-turn after the Petronas station at Km59 to reach their destinations.

“All road users must remain alert and cautious when making P-turns and at intersections leading to Tatau bazaar, District Police Headquarters (IPD Tatau), Civic Centre and Tatau Mosque,” PWD Sarawak said.

Those coming from SMK Tatau heading to Bintulu need to use the P-turn at Km60.

“Parents and guardians of SMK Tatau students should avoid crossing directly in areas without P-turns and refrain from driving against traffic for the safety and well-being of all road users,” it said.

Road users from the town of Tatau heading to Bintulu and Tatau Civic Centre can use the P-turn before the Shell station at Km62 to reach their destinations, says PWD Sarawak.
