Ops Lejang Khas: Three arrested for car theft in Kuching, including woman

KUCHING (March 13): A woman is among three suspects arrested here under Ops Lejang Khas on Wednesday afternoon in connection with vehicle theft cases.

Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspects, aged 28 to 33, were arrested in Tabuan Tranquility and Kampung Stass, Bau at 3pm.

“Initial investigations found that both male suspects were allegedly involved in car thefts, while the woman is the girlfriend of one of the male suspects.

“Two vehicles, consisting a four-wheel drive (4WD) and a compact hatchback, were also seized,” he said in a statement.

Alexson said one of the male suspects had several prior records, while both men tested positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of no less than a year and a maximum seven years, as well as fines upon conviction.
