KUCHING (Jan 25): Over RM100,000 has been channelled to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for the purchase of key equipment.

According to Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, the contribution should help facilitate the critical facility upgrades at the hospital.

“This funding will be largely used to procure four-seater polyurethane-linked chairs, desktop computers and monitors, laptops, and executive chairs,” he said in a statement issued yesterday.

Dr Yii acknowledged SGH as one of the busiest and most essential healthcare institutions in the region, managing a consistently high patient volume.

However, the Democratic Action Party (DAP) lawmaker also observed that many of its facilities were outdated, with some no longer functioning optimally – hampering service delivery and overall efficiency.

“It is hoped that this upgrade would significantly enhance the digital infrastructure, streamline work processes and improve service quality for SGH patients and staff alike,” he added.
