Padawan cops bust online investment scam hub, arrest 16

KUCHING (Aug 15): Police arrested 16 individuals during a raid on a premises believed to be the central hub of an online investment scam syndicate.

Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the raid on Wednesday took place at a commercial centre in Jalan Datuk Amar Kalong Ningkan here at around 11.30am.

“Those arrested, aged between 20 and 37, are suspected of perpetrating online investment scams. Various types of computers and documents were seized during the raid,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Irwan Hafiz said the operation was jointly carried out with the Sarawak Commercial Crimes Investigation Department.

The suspects are currently being held for further investigation, he added.

“Members of the public who have information related to this case are encouraged to come forward and assist in the investigation,” he added.
