KUCHING (March 15): Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) treated a total of 110 orphans and the underprivileged preparing for Hari Raya Aidilfitri by treating them to a shopping spree.
Five children were selected from each of the 22 PBB branches in the Samariang constituency and were each given RM200 for the shopping trip, said Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, State-Federal Relations and MA63) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
“This ‘Sinaran Raya 2026’ programme is where we bring children that we feel would benefit from the initiative on a shopping trip. This is a programme we organise every Ramadan ahead of Aidilfitri,” she told reporters when met at a shopping mall here yesterday.
The programme was organised by the PBB Samariang Youth wing, and has been held for the past 21 years, said Sharifah Hasidah.
“This shows our PBB Youth wing, as well as the party at the branch level, are very concerned about the welfare of the community, especially young children, so that we can share in the joy of the upcoming Aidilfitri celebration,” she said.
Also present was Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof.
