Pedestrian killed after being hit by MPV in Lundu

KUCHING (July 8): A pedestrian died after he was hit by a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) at Lorong Biawak 10 in Lundu earlier this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement identified the deceased as 29-year-old Immanuel Heypli.

Bomba said they were notified about the incident at 4.34am, and a team from Lundu fire station was despatched to the scene.

“Upon arrival, it was found that the victim was stuck underneath the MPV. The rescue team proceeded to extricate the victim using rescue tools.

“However, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Lundu Hospital. His body was handed over to the police for further action,” it added.

The firefighters ended the operation at 5.50am after cleaning up the accident debris on the road.
