Penang, Johor, Selangor, Sarawak and KL power 85.5 pct of Malaysia’s exports in November 2025

KUCHING, Dec 26: Penang, Johor, Selangor, Sarawak, and Kuala Lumpur dominated Malaysia’s exports in November 2025, contributing a combined 85.5 per cent of the total.

In a TVS news report, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said exports reached RM135 billion in November, an increase of RM8.9 billion or 7.0 per cent compared with the same month last year.

Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said Penang remained the country’s top exporter, accounting for 39.2 per cent of total exports, followed by Johor (21.1 per cent), Selangor (15.2 per cent), Sarawak (6.7 per cent), and Kuala Lumpur (3.3 per cent).

Export growth was primarily driven by higher shipments from Penang (+RM6.9 billion), Johor (+RM5.2 billion), Perak (+RM699.1 million), Sabah (+RM36.3 million), and Negeri Sembilan (+RM17.7 million).

However, export values declined in Selangor (-RM1.4 billion), Sarawak (-RM969.8 million), Pahang (-RM658.8 million), Labuan (-RM445.4 million), Kuala Lumpur (-RM348.0 million), and several other states.

On the import front, Malaysia recorded a 15.8 per cent increase, or RM17.6 billion, compared with November 2024.

Higher imports were recorded in Penang (+RM9.4 billion), Selangor (+RM5.0 billion), Kuala Lumpur (+RM3.2 billion), Johor (+RM707.8 million), Perak (+RM681.3 million), Malacca (+RM398.3 million), and Sabah (+RM165.2 million).

Conversely, import values fell in Negeri Sembilan (-RM368.3 million), Labuan (-RM266.8 million), Sarawak (-RM193.7 million), and several other states.

Penang also led Malaysia’s imports with a 28.6 per cent share, followed by Selangor (26.2 per cent), Johor (18.3 per cent), Kuala Lumpur (9.6 per cent), and Kedah (4.9 per cent). — DayakDaily
