PERANTIS empowers Dayak women to take on leadership roles

KUCHING: The Women’s Leadership and Dayak Grassroots Leaders Programme in Governance, Decision-Making, and Sustainable Development (PERANTIS PTS 062) has been designed to strengthen leadership traits among Dayak women.

Women’s leadership figure and PERANTIS PTS 062 programme director Dr Florince Christy said the initiative is not merely about training women to understand leadership, but instilling the confidence to lead courageously.

“This programme paves the way for participants to learn, boost their confidence, build networks, embrace responsibility, and drive change.

“It aims to enhance practical leadership knowledge and skills so that Dayak women can lead, make sound decisions with integrity, and make meaningful contributions to the community,” she said during the official opening ceremony of PERANTIS PTS 062 at the Dayak Chamber Tower this afternoon.

Furthermore, Florince expressed confidence that the programme could bring significant transformation, particularly among Dayak women.

“I hope to see more Dayak women stepping up to fill leadership roles in politics, the corporate sector, public service, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), communities, and various other sectors.

“We do not lead for ourselves alone, but for our families, communities, future generations, and ultimately to contribute to Sarawak and Malaysia,” she added.

A total of 43 Dayak women leaders and grassroots figures from across Sarawak are participating in the PERANTIS PTS 062 cohort.

The programme is structured into three phases, with Phase 1 (September 25–26) focusing on personal and grassroots leadership— covering leadership identity, strategic thinking, ethical decision-making, as well as community, culture, and heritage.

Phase 2, scheduled for October 16 to 17, will highlight governance, accountability, leadership communication, and conflict resolution.

The final phase will take place on November 6 to 7, concentrating on community leadership, strategic networking, resource mobiliSation, and programme sustainability, which includes the development of a 90-Day Leadership Action Plan.
