KUCHING (Oct 26): Petroliam Nasional Berhad’s (Petronas) efforts to support Sarawak’s aspirations for a lower-carbon economy through collaborative partnerships deserve greater media attention, said its senior general manager of group strategic relations and communications Siti Azlina Abdul Latif.
She said Petronas values long-standing partnerships built on shared goals and are sustained by mutual understanding, respect and trust as part of its commitment to being a progressive energy and solutions partner.
“Petronas’ rich history with Sarawak has enabled us to contribute significantly to the state’s prosperity and support its ambition to foster a vibrant oil and gas sector.
“Given recent milestones in the cleaner energy space, we are also collaborating to realise Sarawak’s aspiration for a lower-carbon economy — such collaborations and partnerships with Sarawak are probably more worthy of more media coverage,” she said in her speech.
Her text-of-speech was read by Petronas media communications general manager Jalina Joheng at the Petronas Sarawak Media Appreciation Dinner here on Friday.
Regarding the event, Siti Azlina said it was a celebration of the strong relationship that Petronas and the Sarawak media fraternity have built over the years, and a gesture of appreciation for the media’s unwavering support.
She emphasised Petronas values the media’s cooperation in reaching all stakeholders.
“Kindly allow me to express my sincerest appreciation to you all, the Sarawak media fraternity, for your insightful news reports, fair and objective coverage that have supported Petronas to continue serving as an energy partner for Sarawak.
“Therefore, we are committed to continue supporting all initiatives, including the upcoming Kenyalang Journalism Awards 2024, that can inspire the craft by setting a higher bar for excellence in journalism with greater aspirations for what effective news reporting can do.
“Sarawak’s media coverage on Petronas all these years have tremendously helped our efforts to communicate with our stakeholders, enhance our reputation and will continuously build the strength of the Petronas brand as we seek opportunities and chart our growth and progress both in the nation and across the globe. Your role in sharing our story with the world is invaluable,” she added.
The event also featured the presentation of recognition awards to media houses as gesture of Petronas’ appreciation for the media fraternity.
