MIRI, April 4: A 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a fatal road accident involving a pick-up truck and two motorcycles at Jalan Indah 2, Permyjaya, yesterday evening.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 6.30pm on April 3, also involved another motorcyclist aged 32 and a 45-year-old pick-up driver.

Miri District Police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah confirmed that police had received a report on the fatal crash.

“Initial investigations at the scene found that the pick-up driver, a local man, was travelling from his workplace at Miri Port heading towards his home in Desa Pujut 2, Permyjaya.

“Upon reaching Jalan Indah 2, the driver is believed to have entered the opposite lane before colliding with two motorcycles,” he said in a statement.

One of the motorcyclists was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second rider and the pick-up driver escaped unhurt.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police are urging members of the public with information on the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation. They may contact the traffic investigating officer Insp Nor Afifah Nordin at 019-5264640 or 085-430479, or report to the nearest police station.
