Pickup truck driver killed in collision with lorry at Mile 27 Bintulu-Miri road

BINTULU (Aug 28): A man perished after his pickup truck was involved in a collision with a lorry at Mile 27 Bintulu-Miri road today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement identified the deceased as Lau Siong Chong, 38.

It said nine personnel from the Bintulu fire station were rushed to the location located about 31km away, arriving at 1.39pm.

“The victim was found in the driver seat and pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The lorry driver was not injured,” said Bomba.

The body was later handed over to police for further action.

Firefighters then flushed the area of accident debris before returning to base.
