KOTA SAMARAHAN, July 3: The police have destroyed 198 bitcoin mining machines worth RM198,000 at the Kota Samarahan District Police Headquarters (IPD) here today.

The mining machines were flattened using a road roller and then handed over to Trienekens Sdn Bhd for disposal.

Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Jaimi Husin said the mining rigs were confiscated by the police from cases from 2021 and 2022.

“The cases have been concluded, and legal actions have been taken in court.

“Following this, we proceeded with the disposal of these bitcoin machines in collaboration with Sesco today,” he said in a recorded interview shared with DayakDaily.

Jaimi mentioned that there were no arrests made as the machines were seized from vacant premises around Uni Central and Samarindah areas.

The investigations were conducted under Section 379 of the Penal Code for electricity theft and Section 427 for mischief causing loss or damage, as there were instances of cables being cut for illegal electricity connections. – DayakDaily
