BINTULU, Mar 30: Bintulu is emerging as an example of how close cooperation between the government, industry players and the local community can create a balanced and harmonious development ecosystem in Sarawak.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the Sarawak government continues to prioritise inclusive development that covers both urban and rural areas so that progress can be shared more evenly among the people.

He said Bintulu demonstrates how coordinated efforts between government agencies, industry stakeholders and the community can support a development model that balances economic growth with social stability.

According to him, the approach is in line with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which focuses not only on infrastructure and economic expansion but also on strengthening social cohesion within communities.

“Unity plays an important role in ensuring development initiatives can be implemented effectively and benefit people from all walks of life,” he said.

He said this through a speech delivered by Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Sarawak Datuk Len Talif Salleh during a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering with the Premier at Dewan Suarah Bintulu today.

Abang Johari added that community gatherings such as festive celebrations help strengthen relationships between leaders and residents, while building trust and encouraging unity among Sarawak’s diverse communities.

“The Sarawak government will continue to ensure development efforts remain balanced by strengthening local economies, developing sustainable urban centres and safeguarding the welfare of the people,” he said. — DayakDaily
