KUCHING (Feb 11): Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg visited the residence of Sarawak Tropical Peat Research Institute (Tropi) director Datu Dr Lulie Melling this evening to pay his last respects to her husband, James Alfred Chabu.
According to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Abang Johari conveyed his condolences to Dr Lulie and met with family members to offer words of comfort, encouraging them to stay strong in accepting their loss.
James, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 65, is remembered as a friendly and approachable individual, well liked by many.
His passing leaves a profound impact on his family, friends, and close acquaintances.
Former state secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion described James’ death as a significant loss.
“His passing is deeply felt, especially among his friends and acquaintances. He was a very kind and approachable person,” he told reporters.
Minister in the Premier’s Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai and State Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Martin Ben were also present to pay their respects and offer condolences to the family.
The funeral for the late James Alfred Chabu is scheduled for this Friday.
