BANGKOK, Sept 13: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg arrived in Bangkok today for an official working visit to Thailand to attend the ministerial roundtable meeting alongside GASTECH 2026 tomorrow (Sept 14).
According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) report, Sarawak Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni accompanied him upon his arrival at his hotel at about 5.10pm local time.
The Premier’s official programme tomorrow will begin with a meeting with Indorama Ventures Public Company Limited group chief executive officer (CEO) and founder Aloke Lohia at The Ritz-Carlton.
The meeting is expected to provide an opportunity to expand networks and explore potential collaboration between Sarawak and international industry players and corporate sectors.
In the afternoon, Abang Johari is scheduled to attend a closed-door ministerial roundtable meeting, followed by a dialogue titled ‘Growth, Abundance and the Courage to Decarbonise’.
He will later participate in a fireside chat at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC), where he is expected to share Sarawak’s perspectives on the future of the energy industry, economic growth, energy transition, and decarbonisation efforts.
Sarawak’s participation in GASTECH 2026 will also give its delegation opportunities to strengthen strategic networking with stakeholders and key players in the global energy industry.
The Premier is scheduled to return to Sarawak later that evening. — DayakDaily
