KUCHING, May 17: The Philanthropy Asia Summit 2026 will feature Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg as one of its speakers during his two-day working visit to Singapore, which is focused on sustainability and bilateral engagements.
According to Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the Premier arrived in Singapore today as part of the working visit which includes participation in the Philanthropy Asia Summit 2026 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands.
He is scheduled to speak on May 18 in a session titled ‘The Public Agenda’, where he will outline Sarawak’s approach to balancing economic development with efforts to reduce carbon intensity.
In his presentation, Abang Johari is expected to highlight how coordinated policy planning, cross-border cooperation in clean energy, and mobilisation of long-term capital can support the State’s green growth agenda.
He is also expected to detail the State’s key development frameworks including the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, the Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint, the Sarawak Energy Transition Policy and the Sarawak Hydrogen Economy Roadmap.
The Philanthropy Asia Summit 2026, organised by the Philanthropy Asia Alliance will run from May 18 to 20. The summit focuses on innovation in Asia with global impact potential, as well as cross-sector collaboration involving philanthropy, business and government.
Ahead of his address, the Premier is scheduled to meet Singapore Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng to discuss areas of bilateral cooperation.
He is also expected to hold discussions with representatives from Temasek Trust and Equatic, focusing on energy-related collaboration and other strategic areas.
Accompanying the Premier on the visit are Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Sarawak Water Sdn Bhd acting chief executive officer Malseni Jamal, and Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Ts.
