LIMBANG (Feb 6): Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) must regularly present village financial reports to ensure transparency and systematic governance, said Batu Danau assemblyman Dato Paulus Palu Gumbang.

He said the practice is important to keep residents informed about village finances and ongoing developments, adding that financial reports should be tabled during meetings with villagers to strengthen accountability and management practices.

“When holding meetings, present the financial report — how much is left in the account, what the expenditure is for, the sources of funds and so on.

“I often receive complaints from people who come to my office saying that there are village heads or tuai rumah who do not present accounts.

“Village expenditure should be made known to the villagers,” he said during the presentation ceremony for Phase Two of the 2025 Rural Minor Projects Grant (MRP) under the Batu Danau Service Centre at St Edmund’s Seminar Hall here Thursday.

Paulus said the measure would help ensure government funds are managed transparently and used for their intended purposes, while preventing misappropriation or misuse that could undermine public trust.

He added that all government allocations should be distributed for village development within the respective areas, including residents living separately on their own land.

On another matter, he said houses of worship seeking funding from the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) must submit applications based on actual needs or real costs.

He explained that expenditure reports on project progress must be submitted every March and September to facilitate the disbursement of funds by Unifor, adding that applications should be made through local service centres with the support of area leaders.

At the ceremony, a total of RM975,000 in Phase Two MRP allocations for 2025 was distributed to 154 recipients.
