KUCHING (July 10): A group of present and former Senators from Sarawak paid a courtesy call on Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana yesterday.
They comprised serving senators Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim, Susan Chemerai Anding, Michael Mujah Lihan, Robert Lau Hui Yew, Pele Peter Tinggom and Rita Sarimah Patrick Insol as well as former senators Dato Dr Zaiedi Suhaili and Datuk Paul Igai.
Ahmad said the courtesy call aimed to seek Wan Junaidi’s valuable insights and perspectives on the Dewan Negara’s (Senate) direction.
“Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi has been great in sharing his wisdom, and thus far, he has provided valuable insights into the direction he envisions for the Dewan Negara’s progress.
“So, that’s why we’ve brought most of our current (Sarawak) senators to engage in this courtesy call,” he said.
Wan Junaidi was previously Dewan Negara president prior to being appointed as Sarawak’s eighth Yang di-Pertua Negeri.
