LIMBANG, 2 Oct: The Sports and Culture Education Services Association (PSKPP) party is a platform in strengthening health activities as well as cultivating healthy lifestyles among educators.
Deputy Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that the celebration also brought a spirit of friendship, sports and culture which is the basis for unity.
"This is the 44th PSKPP Party. The 44 years of advocacy is a long period and proves that such programs have an important place among educators in Sarawak state.
"This party is not just a contest to determine who wins, who loses. More importantly, the party is a platform to build physical fitness, mental well-being, discipline and teamwork spirit among educators", he said.
He said this while addressing the Sarawak State Sports and Cultural Services (PSKPP) Association Party Program for Balanced and Outstanding Districts for the 44th year of 2026 in the Balanced Voter Chamber on Thursday.
His wife, Datuk Dayang Morliah, Datuk Awang David; Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah; Member of the National Assembly (ADUN) Batu Danau, Dato Paulus Palu Gumbang; Director of Education Sarawak, Omar Mahli and Officer of Education District Limbang, Siti Mariam Salleh were also present.
According to Awang Tengah, the task in education is not an easy one as teachers and educators face many challenges in educating younger generations.
Thus, he said, the health and well-being aspects of education citizens are crucial to ensure that they are always ready to take full responsibility with commitment.
He said educated citizens who are healthy, energetic and have a balanced life will be better prepared to fulfill their responsibilities.
In fact, he said, sporting activities also teach various life values including discipline, perseverance, cooperation, leadership, respect for opponents and not giving up easily.
He said that these values continue to be nurtured in education services.
Meanwhile, Awang Tengah said the celebration in Limbang also gave participants an opportunity not only to participate in the tournament, but to get to know the uniqueness of the area more closely.
He said participants from across Sarawak will bring home not only memories of the competition, but also experiences about the hospitality and diversity of culture and food of the Balance society.
More than 3,000 PSKPP participants from across Sarawak reside in Limbang and Lawas to participate in the tournament which will take place from 2 to 4 October 2026.
Among the events competed were football, badminton, handball, tenpin bowling, netball, petanque, cricket and futsal as well as various other sporting events. -TVS
