KUCHING, April 2: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the Cabinet has agreed to implement a work-from-home policy for ministries, agencies, statutory bodies, and government-linked companies (GLCs) starting April 15, 2026.
In a video message broadcasted last night, the Prime Minister explained that the purpose of this initiative is to save fuel and ensure a sustainable supply of energy for the country. He added that further details will be announced soon.
“At the same time, I want to emphasise that the government is mitigating the impact of this global energy crisis through the People’s Support Initiative,” he said.
He said that through the initiative, the government has to spend RM4 billion per month to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices.
Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, assured that the government is intensifying efforts to diversify energy sources to safeguard the country’s energy supply.
“We are diversifying oil and gas import sources from other countries, as previously announced, and this is also supported by the strong performance of our national oil company, Petronas, in managing operations effectively,” he added. – DayakDaily
