KUCHING (Feb 8): Puspakom Sdn Bhd has launched its GiCheck mobile application, now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, marking the completion of its new digital booking ecosystem.
Puspakom chief executive officer Mahmood Razak Bahman said the mobile app launch follows the introduction of the GiCheck website last month, further strengthening the company’s digital transformation efforts to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
“The launch is also timely as the federal Ministry of Transport (MoT) steps up festive road safety operations, with intensified enforcement and safety checks to support safer journeys,” he said in a statement yesterday.
According to Mahmood, the GiCheck app replaces the MyPuspakom mobile app and serves as a mobile extension of the GiCheck website, which remains the primary platform for vehicle inspection bookings with the most comprehensive functions.
The app is designed to provide convenient access for customers who need to use the same core booking system while on the move, offering greater flexibility without compromising data accuracy or inspection standards.
“GiCheck is the latest development in Puspakom’s ongoing #MacamBaharu transformation, focused on improving customer experience through greater accuracy, clarity and operational efficiency,” he said.
He explained that while the GiCheck website laid the foundation for a more stable and accurate booking system, the mobile app extends this capability to customers who prefer mobile access, while maintaining the same level of data integrity and inspection standards.
Mahmood also advised commercial vehicle owners to plan their inspections earlier, noting that the ministry has extended the inspection window for commercial vehicles from 14 days to 30 days before the Motor Vehicle Licence (MVL) expiry date.
“The extension provides vehicle owners with greater flexibility to schedule inspections in advance, helping to ease congestion at inspection centres and support smoother operations, particularly during peak periods,” he said.
He added that the GiCheck addresses long-standing customer pain points, especially booking errors caused by manual data entry and unclear inspection eligibility.
Through direct integration with the Road Transport Department’s MySIKAP platform, GiCheck allows vehicle information to be retrieved more accurately, enabling customers to check inspection eligibility and required documents earlier in the booking journey.
“This reduces failed bookings, inspection rejections and unnecessary repeat visits, while also supporting smoother operations at inspection centres nationwide,” he said.
Compared to the previous MyPuspakom app, GiCheck offers a simpler booking flow, clearer guidance on inspection requirements, and MySIKAP-verified vehicle data, benefitting both customers and Puspakom’s operations.
Mahmood said Mobile Inspection Services bookings remain available via www.GiCheck.my, while bulk bookings can be made through [email protected].
While the GiCheck app rollout supports a smoother booking journey, he said Puspakom’s broader goal is to help build a stronger road safety culture in Malaysia in line with the ministry’s road safety objectives.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility, and when our customers have clearer information and fewer booking errors, they can focus on doing the right thing for themselves, their loved ones and everyone else on the road,” he said.
