BINTULU, 3 Oct: PETRONAS Youth Football Closed Tournament (PYFCT) 2026 Under 12 category is back underway in Bintulu today after being postponed due to previously high Air Pollution Index (IPU) readings.
PETRONAS in a media statement today announced that the tournament taking place at UPM Football Field involves eight teams from around Bintulu including Mukah.
According to PETRONAS, the relaunch of the tournament reflects the organisers' commitment to providing a safe and conducive platform for young players to compete, develop skills and build self-confidence.
"The Under 12 category matches use a group stage format before the teams compete in a knockout round, which is then followed by the final and award ceremony on the same day", according to the statement.
PETRONAS said that PYFCT continues to support the development of football in Sarawak through efforts to attract young talent as well as apply teamwork values, discipline, perseverance and spirit of sportsmanship amongst the players.
The inaugural ceremony was completed by former Sarawak footballers, Johnny Joseph and Patrick Hitler, along with Co-Chairman of PYFCT 2026 Bintulu Edition, Nazman Rusli who is also the General Manager of MLNG.
