Rain and thunderstorms likely across most of Sarawak on Feb 21, says MetMalaysia

KUCHING (Feb 20): Most parts of Sarawak are expected to experience rain and thunderstorms on Saturday (Feb 21).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in an update on Friday, said rain will begin in the morning in areas such as Kapit, Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah and Bintulu. Miri and Limbang are expected to remain dry in the morning.

Thunderstorms may occur in the afternoon across many divisions, including Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.

At night, rain is likely in Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang, while Kuching, Serian and Samarahan are expected to stay dry.

MetMalaysia also warned that coastal waters will be rough, with waves of 1.5–2.5 m and north-west winds of 30–40 kilometres per hour.

Temperatures are expected to range from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius.
