KUCHING (March 6): A total of 180 individuals from the target groups of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development received contributions in conjunction with Ramadan.
Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri handed aid to 80 children, 30 senior citizens, 50 persons with disabilities (PwDs), and 20 recipients from the asnaf and orphan groups.
“The month of Ramadan is a blessing bestowed upon us as a ‘madrasah’ of life — a school that nurtures the soul, trains our patience and cultivates compassion within us.
“It teaches us to feel what those who are less fortunate experience, the meaning of sacrifice, and most beautifully, the meaning of living together in harmony,” she said during the Ramah Mesra Ramadan dinner attended by about 500 guests.
Nancy highlighted the importance of love, togetherness, and mutual respect during the holy month.
“Therefore, the presence of our children, senior citizens and friends with disabilities here today is truly meaningful.
“Your presence today reminds us that our shared responsibility is to ensure that every one of us lives in a safe and respectful environment and is not left behind in the course of life,” she said.
She highlighted the values of love, togetherness and mutual respect as among the principles that should be observed during the holy month.
“Let us pray that this Ramadan becomes a new beginning — a beacon of hope, strength and happiness for us all.
“May we all be granted good health, enduring spirit, and the opportunity to come together again in the next Ramadan,” she said.
Also present were the Social Welfare Department director-general Datuk Che Murad Sayang Ramjan, National Welfare Foundation Sarawak chief executive officer Nordina Haron and other distinguished guests.
