KUCHING (July 6): Five household heads (KIR) in Kampung Seberang Sebuyau near here received assistance in the form of fishing equipment from the Regional Corridor Development Authority’s (Recoda) socio-economic development unit on Thursday.

According to Recoda, this assistance also included boats, engines, net-making equipment, and life jackets.

Additionally, equipment such as chillers, ice boxes, and store racks were provided to grocery stores in the village, it added.

“Our socio-economic development unit conducted a work visit to the district to support the ‘Bantuan Peralatan Nelayan dan Keusahawanan Dari Rumah (Kedai Runcit)’ projects,” said Recoda in a statement.

“This visit was also made to distribute additional supplies and assess the progress and current status of the Inisiatif Pendapatan Rakyat – Basmi Miskin Tegar (IPR-BMT) or the People’s Income Initiative Phase 1 in the Sebuyau District,” the authority added.

Recoda emphasised that this initiative was designed to help household heads increase their income by providing essential supplies for smoother project implementation, as well as to eradicate hardcore poverty in the country.

“Ultimately, it aims to boost the income of KIR or Ahli Isi Rumah (AIR) and lift them out of the hardcore poor category.

“Recoda is committed to enhancing the livelihoods of local communities through targeted IPR-BMT initiatives,” it added.
