KUCHING (Aug 9): A photography and videography competition for the Malaysia Games (Sukma) XXI 2024, offering a total cash prize of RM15,500, will be happening from Aug 12 to 24, announced Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Rahman Hamzah.
Organised by the Sarawak Sukma Secretariat and the Kuching Division Journalist Association, the contest will be divided into three categories: Open Photography, Youth Photography, and Videography.
Abdul Karim said for the open photography category, the first, second, and third place winners respectively will take home RM3,000, RM2,000, and RM1,000, as fourth to eighth place will receive a consolation prize of RM200 each.
“For the youth photography and videography categories, the first, second and third place winners respectively will receive RM2,000, RM1,000, and RM750, as fourth to eighth place will take home RM100 each as consolation prizes.
“The youth category is open to students in schools, colleges, and universities within Malaysia,” he said during a press conference at the Sukma Command Centre at Bangunan Baitulmakmur II here today.
He added that to recognise the role of media practitioners reporting on Sukma, a daily competition entitled ‘Picture and Article of the Day’ is set to take place from Aug 16 to 25, offering a cash prize of RM100.
“This daily competition is open to all print and online media organisations in Malaysia. The best pictures and articles will also be displayed in a special section of the media room located at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, which will be launched tomorrow (today),” he said.
