KUCHING, Dec 31: The RM248 million Bebuling Short Take-Off and Landing port (STOLport) is on track for completion by February 2026.
According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the airport will be transporting passengers and moving cargo out to markets outside Spaoh.
By integrating its operations with the local Agropark and the Collecting Packaging Processing Centre (CPPC), the STOLport will streamline the supply chain for local produce.
The facility is also anticipated to significantly enhance the visibility and accessibility of eco-tourism products throughout the Betong division.
Uggah, who also the Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (MIPD), received a comprehensive technical briefing from the Ministry of Works (JKR) Sarawak Divisional Engineer, Jason Ng about several high-priority connectivity projects during his site visit yesterday (Dec 30).
The connectivity projects include the Sungai Krian Bridge (Coastal Package D4), the Highway to Roban Interchange (Coastal Package A5), and the Batang Saribas Bridge 2 (Coastal Package A4).
Further updates were also shared regarding the progress of the Sungai Paku Bridge and several rural road upgrades, including Jalan Jambu Krampak to Rantau Layang and the Jalan Ijok-Batu Pesok-Rantau Layang stretch.
Also present were Betong Member of Parliament, Datuk Dr Richard Rapu, JKR Sarawak Director, Datu Ir Cassidy Morris, Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Roseline Mapong, Betong District Officer, Laga Kueh, Betong District Council Secretary, Lister Guwie, and Betong Development Agency Special Officer, Abang Mohamed. – DayakDaily
